Training Sessions/Institutes

  • EIX Learning Sessions tend to be a series of three or more gatherings that are 2-3 hours long, depending on district need and what works for their schedule. Our Institutes are multi-day events focused on a particular area of classroom practice. Special attention is placed on equity, diversity, and inclusion through the lens of race and culture. Trainings are best accompanied with coaching and learning labs to continue teacher professional learning and development in an applied way. ASK about our LINGUISTIC LIBERATION 3-DAY SYMPOSIUM!

Learning Labs

  • Learning labs are small groups of educators who come together to 1) define a problem, 2) craft a solution to apply in a classroom, 3) try out the solution in a classroom while gathering qualitative and quantitative data, 4) analyze everyone’s data for patterns, themes, and trends. It is a more intense, personal, and meaningful form of professional learning and development. The focus is on how to best center ELL / MLL and dual language students while also thinking about diversity, equity, and inclusion. Language, race, and culture are accounted for during discussions. Services

We approach professional learning systemically, meaning that everyone in the ecosystem of learning has a stake in the teaching and support of ELL / MLL and dual language students. “Sit and get” or “spray and pray” models of teacher learning rarely work to build teacher and administrative capacity.

At EIX, we have a number of professional learning solutions that provide flexible, responsive, customized, and research-infused trainings for faculty, staff, and families that are further supported by coaching, PLCs, and microcontent. Our professional learning focuses on developing dispositions, cultural context knowledge, strategies, and methods that provide direction for teachers that engage students academically and socially. We also evaluate programs using nationally recognized frameworks to create language programs with staying power while also attending to equity, diversity, inclusion, race, and culture.

It’s all about being linguistically and culturally sustaining!
